ANC Technical Center Students Win Awards at Arkansas SkillsUSA State Competitions


The Arkansas Northeastern College Technical Center at Burdette took 24 high school competitors and 4 post-secondary competitors to the Arkansas SkillsUSA State Competitions this week. Twenty-two of the competitors traveled to Hot Springs, AR, where they competed in the Welding, Criminal Justice, Crime Scene Investigation, and Medical Terminology competitions. Six of the students traveled to Southern Arkansas University in Camden, AR, to compete in the Aviation Maintenance competition. Ryan Crouch of Manila placed 2nd in Criminal Justice, Michael Rawson of Manila placed 2nd in Aviation Maintenance, Landen Stutts of Manila placed 3rd in Aviation Maintenance, and Cody Hearyman of Blytheville placed 3rd in Welding. Chase Farrish won the post-secondary State Championship in Welding Sculpture, and Chase Walker placed 2nd in the post-secondary Aviation Maintenance competition.

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. SkillsUSA helps each student excel, and is a national nonprofit organization serving teachers and high school and college students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations, including health occupations. The ANC Technical Center offers Skills memberships to all of its students, and encourages Club involvement, even sending students to the National competition in years past.
